According to the calendar, it’s been spring for a while, but it’s taken Central Arkansas a little longer to get the message. Now that the weather is warming, we’re finally ready to say, “Spring has sprung!” Before you whip out your mops, brooms and rubber gloves to start your spring cleaning, start from the top– your roof, that is.
From winter’s snow, sleet and freezing temperatures, to the scorching weather that summer will bring; your roof has been through a lot over the past few months, and life’s not going to get any easier for it! In fact, because of these harsh conditions, the National Roofing Contractors Association recommends getting your roof checked twice a year– once in the fall, and once before summer starts up. This assures that nothing was damaged during the previous season, and your roof’s in tip-top shape to keep your home safe.
April Showers Bring May…
You know what they say, “April showers bring May twigs, algae, leaves, rain, hail, etc.”… or maybe that’s just us. As storm season slows down, it’s important to check your roof and gutters for any of the effects it left behind. Spring is the perfect time to clear your gutters again, remove debris from your roof and check for any overhanging branches that may be drooping, waiting to cause damage.
Check Your Warranty
Although this may not be a step to take every spring, it’s definitely one to add to the top of your “To do” list. Not all warranties are created equal, and if yours isn’t good, it’s better to be aware of that before it’s needed. Even if your manufacturer claims a “lifetime” warranty, be sure to question how long they deem that time to be.
