P.I. Roofing

2016 Roofing Trends: Thinking Forward

Christmas is a good time to reflect on the past year and enjoy the happy memories. For us, that means thinking of all the families we helped keep warm and safe and the friendships we deepened with employees, clients, and vendors. We also get to evaluate how much we grew and how much we learned in the past year.

The New Year is a good time to look forward and get excited about new employees, products, and technology that will help P.I. be the best company it can be in 2016. We always want to stay on top of industry roofing trends to better serve Central Arkansas roofing needs.

After much research, here are our predictions and insights for trends in the new year:

Shingle Choice: The tried and true Asphalt shingle will stay strong as the number one choice for residential roofing. Asphalt shingles are really leading the way with durability and environmentally conscious technology, such as the cooling granules that are being combined with the asphalt to make the home more energy efficient.

Color Choice: We think we’ll see homeowners leaning towards a lighter color option for their roof to lessen the costs of cooling the home in the summer months. We’re on the lookout for more blues and grays on the rooftops this year.

Recyclable Choice: Going green is not just referring to cyclists, bus riders, and that green bin you put your soda cans in. Treating the environment well is a hot topic these days and we’re hoping it’s a trend that turns into a lifestyle. The options for green building materials are growing and will probably continue to make headlines in the industry.

Solar Choice: Harnessing the sun’s power and converting it into electricity is no new thing, but the popularity of solar roofing to reduce energy bill costs and reduce negative effects on the environment is on the rise.

If we left out a trend you’d like to see in the roofing industry in the new year, let us know on our Facebook and Twitter pages!

  1. Thanks so much for sharing all of these different roofing trends! My husband and I have been thinking of getting a new roof for some time now, especially since there are so many energy efficient options available now. However, I had no idea that asphalt is still considered as one of the best options. It sounds like we should definitely go with some lighter colored asphalt shingles in order to get the most bang for our buck. Who knows, we may even save money by doing this!

  2. I think it’s great that shingles are becoming more durable and eco-friendly! I didn’t know that some shingles were starting to be combined with cooling granules, but I’m glad that they are. I’ve also heard that old asphalt shingles can be recycled to make new ones for future roofs, which is great. What other recyclable roofing materials are there?
